Meet The Team
Eric, Juliet, and Newton are all in their fourth and final years of the Commerce program at Queen's University. Having recently completed exchange semesters in Europe, this team is passionate about travel and hopes to be a resource to university students considering a study abroad program. Young Dumb and Abroad aims to help students make the most of their time abroad, both in the preliminary stages and while travelling.
Juliet
Juliet is our go-to-girl for all things Central Europe. Originally hailing from London, England, Juliet grew up in Toronto and has spent multiple summers travelling with her family. Last year she studied abroad for six months in Leuven, Belgium, where she was able to brush up on her French and took full advantage of the interrail system in Europe, visiting Brussels, Bruges, Ghent, London, Paris, and Amsterdam. Her favourite exchange experience was a road trip across Croatia with eight friends. As an organizational and logistics expert, Juliet knows how to pack her weekends away with fun and valuable experiences. In her spare time, Juliet enjoys spinning, watching her favourite hockey team, the Habs, and doing literally anything with her dog.

Eric
Eric has spent most of his life on the move as part of a military family. Growing up, he lived in six different cities, from Saudi Arabia, to Canada, to the United States. Most recently, he spent four months studying in Madrid, Spain and travelling Europe. From can't-miss travel experiences to tips and tricks, Eric’s got our readers covered. His experiences abroad include road-tripping across the coast of Portugal in a camper van with five friends, dropping 1500 Euros on a weekend getaway in Ibiza, and dune-surfing in the Sahara Desert. When Eric isn’t travelling, he enjoys live theatre (Phantom of the Opera is his favourite), hockey, lifting weights, and engaging in stimulating discussions with friends about politics and current events.

Newton
This past year, Newton travelled across Europe and Asia and picked up plenty of travel hacks along the way! He is well equipped to help all of our readers live their best lives on exchange! His most impressive hacks while abroad included securing two free international flights, one from San Francisco to Hong Kong and the other from Japan to Toronto. Newton is our in-house expert on travelling on a shoestring budget, earning cash back on exchange, and travelling like a local. His travel experiences range from volcano hiking in Indonesia, to organizing a party for hundreds of students in Germany (that night was pretty wild to say the least). Aside from travelling, Newton enjoys playing badminton and following his favourite basket team, the Toronto Raptors, and is currently learning to play squash.
